Zakhraf Studio is a free Islamic geometric pattern generator that runs in your browser. Pick a fold symmetry and a construction family, set the star depth and palette, and the studio draws the finished pattern in front of you. Nothing installs, and every pattern is built from documented historical geometry rather than sampled or predicted from images.

What it makes

The generator covers the core of the Islamic geometric tradition, each construction drawn exactly rather than approximated:

• Star patterns at six, eight, ten and twelve-fold symmetry, built by the polygons-in-contact method.
• Girih and khatam (seal) stars, the strapwork geometry explained in what is girih.

Constructed, not AI-generated

Most tools that call themselves pattern generators do one of two things: they draw a single tile for you to place by hand, or they ask an AI to imagine a pattern from a prompt. Zakhraf does neither. It runs the historical construction live, so every star point lands on its centre line, symmetry holds across the whole field, and the interlace never contradicts itself. It is the generator that constructs the pattern rather than predicting an image. Colour like a zellige cutter

Colour is a control, not an afterthought. Nine palettes ship, from parchment and lapis to the Fès zellige tetrachord; polychrome fills each cell by congruence class under the rule that no two adjacent cells share a colour; and a spot-colour picker lets you recolour a single tile by hand, the way a cutter would.

Export you can build from

A pattern is only useful if it leaves the browser cleanly. On the Creator tier the generator exports true vector SVG, a seamless repeat tile for wallpaper or fabric, a CSS background, and, for makers, a DXF cut schedule at true physical scale. Every path is closed and correctly wound, ready for a cutting machine, because it was constructed rather than traced.
