Islamic geometric ornament for interiors

Museum-grade Islamic geometry,
generated live in your browser.

Zakhraf generates authentic Islamic geometric patterns to museum mathematical standard. Design in the browser. Export as SVG, seamless repeat tile or CSS pattern. For residential and hospitality spaces that ask more of a pattern than a stock print.

Every rosette, girih strap and zellige face this tool draws comes from the same mathematics as the Alhambra and the Al-Attarine Madrasa: exact irrationals, the Hankin polygon-in-contact construction, and the crystallographic restriction that permits six, eight, ten and twelve-fold symmetry. Nothing is generated. Everything is derived.

Hankin 1925

The polygons-in-contact method the tradition is built on, implemented exactly.

Every piece measured in millimetres against your CNC bit before export.

Three steps from geometry to product.

01

Design

Choose your symmetry: 6, 8, 10 or 12-fold. Set harmonic depth, add polychrome zellige colouring, thicken to ribbon strapwork. Every constant derived analytically, no magic numbers.

02

Preview

See it live at any zoom. Canvas and export use identical geometry, so what appears on screen is exactly what prints. Preview against a wall or fabric mock-up before you commit.

03

Export

SVG at screen size or 2400 px print-ready. Seam-verified repeat tile for fabric, wallpaper and product printing. CSS pattern for websites. All under a commercial licence.

Not AI-generated. Analytically derived.

Every strap tip in a Zakhraf pattern sits at the exact analytic intersection of construction lines. Every harmonic depth is a closed-form irrational (tan π/6, √2 − 1, 1/φ², 2 − √3). The engine implements Hankin's polygons-in-contact method with a symmetric ray-growth clipper: overlap is impossible by construction, and strapwork continuity across tile edges is automatic.

This matters because interior work at scale needs geometry that survives being blown up to a three-metre wallpaper drop. Patterns that look pleasant at thumbnail size and fall apart at print size are the industry's default. Zakhraf's default is the opposite.
